Where Have You Been?
It’s been awhile. I feel like it is so hard for me to hold on to this tiny online space that I created and love so much. The past two months have been a blur. An amazing, exciting, yet exhausting blur. We packed up our life in Portland and moved back to the Midwest. As everyone knows, moving is a pain. I have a hard time believing anyone can enjoy the process. We had all of our stuff shipped, but couldn’t afford movers to actually, physically, move our stuff, so we did it all on our own. Then we got in our Jeep and traveled across the country. Sleeping in campgrounds and hotel parking lots for a couple weeks. Vancouver and Alberta hold a special place in my heart and I cannot wait to share our stories and the photos I took while living in the mountains.
When we got to Chicago, we were exhausted, but all of our stuff still needed to be moved into a storage unit up north where we plan on living. So we had the fun task of once again, moving. Something we still get to look forward to again when we eventually find a place to live. We didn’t really get to take a break though, as we had 17 days to plan and prepare for our wedding. Which was a time. We held a very small wedding. More like an elopement, with just our immediate family, and yet, it was still so draining and expensive, but it all was worth it because it was so beautiful.
You’d think we’d rest, but no, then we took our honeymoon to Italy! I know, a dream. One that I romanticized for sure, but still had the most wonderful and amazing time. It was exhausting though. Have I mentioned how tired I’ve been? We did so much, and although I am glad for some calm in my life again, it always goes by so quickly. That is something I have learned these past months. You truly have to appreciate and live in the moment, because when it’s over, it’s over and you’ll be sad you weren’t experiencing it when you had it.
While all this was going on, I yearned to write, but finances and time were tight, extremely tight, and I just did not have the money to renew my hosting account. So I wrote in my journal instead…but I’m back now and so excited to blog again.
For right now, I’m going to aim for at least one post a week, hopefully two, but we are looking for jobs right now so that obviously takes priority.
Thank you for still listening.
