If you didn’t already know, I took a little bit of a break, and changed my domain name! My small blog used to be called ‘Songs of the Sparrow’ and now, welcome, ‘Bee & Birch’. To read about why I changed my domain name and rebranded my blog, you can read the post all about it, here. Now I’m back, and I thought it would be helpful to share why I took a break to begin with and what my life has been like these past couple of weeks, which is essentially what my Tea Talk series is all about. It’s to take a break from the long produced posts, and just casually share what I’ve been up to and things that I’m loving. It used to be a weekly post, but I think I’m going to have this series be a monthly one.
I discuss the reason for changing my blog in my rebranding post, and a little of why I needed to take a break, but wanted to share just what I was going through these past couple of months. The first thing is that I have had some health issues that I’ve been dealing with. I have a category dedicated to chronic pain, and I will be sharing in more detail, what my health issues are later, but to sum it all up…I’ve been in pain. In February I found out that I have a bladder disorder called, Interstitial Cystitis, or IC. It essentially means that my bladder does not function properly, and causes me a lot of pain. The other issue I have been dealing with is chronic migraines with auras. I’ve had these really bad headaches for a couple of years now, but they seem to be getting worse. I have a migraine or headache almost every day. On top of this, I lost my employment, and am still waiting to be enrolled in Affordable Care, so I am unable to go get the tests I need done for a proper diagnosis, but given my many previous appointments to the doctor, along with my own tests done at pharmacies, I am pretty sure I have high blood pressure. I cannot be certain that I do, nor can I be certain that the headaches are a symptom of high blood pressure, but I’m taking steps to change my lifestyle in case it is. Fortunately, I’ve changed my eating lifestyle years ago, but it means being aware and tracking my sodium intake, as well as making sure I take time each day to do yoga and meditate. Relieving stress is a huge factor in my health, because I am a consistent bundle of worry and anxiety. I am treating it like medication, which it is, and will be discussing all of this, and my journey in the future.
Along with my health, I just was not happy. I lost my job, and have some huge life moments happening this summer. We are moving across the country and getting married this summer, which all has its own stressors. My blog was suppose to be my place of joy and freedom and it just didn’t feel like that any longer, but I am freshly inspired and feeling good about this fresh start.
